1/48 F-16XL Ship 1 Single-Seater

ATTIC has released their ultimate 1/48 F-16XL conversion kit for the Hasegawa F-16, with all the bells and wistles you've been asking for. This is an updated kit with improved accuracy and details based on recent (2006) photos and measurements of the actual aircraft. The kit has parts and decals for both the USAF and NASA embodiments of the single-seater. ATTIC also remastered the lower fuselage half to accept the Seamless Suckers full-depth inlet. The ATTIC kit consists of 17 resin pieces, the decal sheet with both USAF and NASA markings, and a 12-page instruction booklet and color reference with lots of very recent detail photos. With this kit, you can build a truly show-stopping model. It's the only accurate model of the amazing F-16XL on the market. The 1/72 scale Monogram kit has the inlet and gear in the wrong place and lacks the fuselage "hump." The 1/32 scale Korean model is even worse, with no fuselage stretch and the wing much too small. The extremely nice Meteor 1/32 conversion kit is not available.  ATTIC has taken great care to make the engraved panel lines as accurate and delicate as possible. The panel lines match the Hasegawa kit perfectly. Harry Hillaker considered the F-16XL to be the best aircraft he designed. It carried 40% more payload than a regular F-16 twice as far, and it could fly supersonic without using afterburner. This model should be in every 1/48 scale collection.
